Illustration Ale Label: Wally Wood
by Ed Piskor on December 6, 2011 at 6:50 pmFor the second time, the East End Brewing Co. is working in tandem with the Toonseum to bring forth, Illustration Ale. Portions of the proceeds are donated to the Toonseum. The first round had 6 different labels drawn by 6 rad illustrators. I remember thinking: “What would I do if I was asked to draw a label?”, there was one logical choice for me. A portrait/caricature of the late, great, Wally Wood. An illustrator/cartoonist who is the quintessential embodiment of the marriage between alcohol and comics. This year they did ask me to do one and here it is.

The feds are finicky about the size of the typeface that contains the volume and brewers info. We ended up with this label.
Day of the Dead PGH Citypaper Cover
by Ed Piskor on October 26, 2011 at 3:38 pmHey Friends and neighbors. The reason for my interpersonal, radio-silence, is because I started a new weekly strip over at one of my favorite online destinations, Boing Boing. Check it out.
That’s right, pals, the main Wizzywig story has wrapped up. Thanks for the nice comments and emails. It’s much appreciated. When putting this work together in the vacuum that is my basement, it’s very sweet to know people out there with such good taste are reading.
Coming in June 2012, there will be a tangible, hardcover volume of the Boingthump storyline being published by Top Shelf, for those of you who are like me and like reading things on paper better.
