“Because I’m Drawn That Way!” Ed Piskor Talks Comics
by Ed Piskor on April 13, 2012 at 1:56 amI’ll be giving some sort of presentation at Carnegie Mellon University in a few weeks. Here’s a process blog showing the evolution of the poster I created for the event.
I hate coming up with titles, so I was kind of stuck on it, until CMU Director of the Humanities Scholars program came through in the clutch with a title stolen from Jessica Rabbit.
Illustration Ale Label: Wally Wood
by Ed Piskor on December 6, 2011 at 6:50 pmFor the second time, the East End Brewing Co. is working in tandem with the Toonseum to bring forth, Illustration Ale. Portions of the proceeds are donated to the Toonseum. The first round had 6 different labels drawn by 6 rad illustrators. I remember thinking: “What would I do if I was asked to draw a label?”, there was one logical choice for me. A portrait/caricature of the late, great, Wally Wood. An illustrator/cartoonist who is the quintessential embodiment of the marriage between alcohol and comics. This year they did ask me to do one and here it is.

The feds are finicky about the size of the typeface that contains the volume and brewers info. We ended up with this label.
Day of the Dead PGH Citypaper Cover
